One day, I was scrolling through TikTok and came across an ad on my For You page for nipple covers. What caught my eye was them being featured in an episode of Shark Tank. For those of you who have never heard of the show, Shark Tank is a reality show where small businesses pitch themselves to investors, aka Sharks. They explain their product, share their financials, strengths, and challenges. As someone who was a business major in college, I love watching this show. Additionally, it’s a great way to discover new products available.

What I used before Cakes

In the past, I have never had braless options that I liked for strapless or backless dresses. I have tried a strapless bra from Aerie for strapless dresses, but I never felt comfortable wearing it out, as it had a bit of a gap at the top without straps. There was just this nervousness wearing it out every time I ever considered it. There was this other bra solution I tried from Aerie for backless dresses. But it doesn’t look like they sell it anymore. It was a long strap that would go right above your butt for the back of the bra. The bra was super confusing to put on, and I ended up returning it.

Afterwards, I never wore any strapless or backless dresses. And I would pair a jacket with my spaghetti strap dresses or tops. Or sometimes I would do a matching bra color to your outfit.

What made me try Cakes Body Nipple Covers?

As I mentioned above, I had seen these on TikTok, and my love for Shark Tank made me believe that these Cakes Body Nipple Covers would be a good product. The way they presented these as reusable and with no irritating adhesives is what made me want to try this out. In the past, I have never tried nipple covers because they always seemed painful to take off. Almost like waxing it off! The way the ladies put them on seemed gentle and not painful.

How do Cakes Nipple Covers Work?

First, make sure you pick the right size based on your bra cup. They also come in different skin tones. You take a cake nipple cover off of the plastic it comes on. Then you press it onto your breast where it feels comfortable. You don’t need to press super hard; it just needs to hug your body. And it will grip your skin using your body heat. The placement of these depends on your shape.

Make sure you don’t wear any lotion or body oil on your breasts while using these. I have done a jump test where I jumped up and down while wearing these, and they did survive. 👍🏼

Packaging: I loved the packaging of these! They come in a cute pink box, which is magnetic, and it’s perfect for storage, so they won’t get lost. If you want to save even more space, you can use the little bag that comes with it instead.

Trying them: I first put them on at home for an entire day. They were comfortable to put on and stayed put no matter what weird position I stayed in on my sofa or walked around the house in. I put them to the test overnight as I slept with them on. Overall, they stayed on great and didn’t seem to move at all. When I took them off, they were easy to remove and didn’t hurt at all. I’m not sure if you need to put them back on the plastic that comes with them after use, but I did that to help maintain their shape. And it might even help with its adherence for future use.

The Real Test: I wore these with a yellow spaghetti strap dress from Alice + Olivia when I went to my sister’s graduation. It was outdoors, so the heat put them to the test. Since this was my first time wearing them out of the house, I was a bit anxious about something going wrong. But these did not let me down! They never slipped off and stayed put the entire time. So yes, these are the best nipple covers I have ever tried. Recently I wore these to the city and I find that dresses are tops that are tighter on the top can help ensure these stay in place.

Where are Cakes Nipple Covers sold?

Amazon is where I recommend shopping because you get free shipping with Prime or add $2 item to get free shipping with these. They recently launched at Ulta, and they are sold inside some Ulta stores too. 🛒 You can buy it from their website, but you would need to pay shipping fees for returns in case you change your mind. They do offer more products on their website than Ulta, in case you want to check them out. But I think Ulta is the best since you can add more beauty items for free shipping, and you get your Ulta points for shopping. They retail for $33.

Final Thoughts

Overall, these were a great product, and I can’t wait to see what else Cakes Body comes out with. The company is very cool, as I have seen on their website that they donate to many women’s causes organizations. It says on LinkedIn that they “have donated over $1 million to breast cancer research”. And they have a Cakes Childcare Credit for employees, “covering 100% of childcare costs for employees with children under public school age.” It’s definitely spectacular that small businesses like Cakes are making a difference in the community and challenging employers to give back more to their teams.
